Are you so busy, that you’re totally overwhelmed? Feel like you can’t quite get a handle on everything that needs to be done?

This was not what you had planned when you started your business! You dreamed of four hour work days, control over your time, and simplicity. So what do you do? How do you cut through the overwhelm and still have a successful business?

You need leverage!

What is leverage?

ˈliːv(ə)rɪdʒ,ˈlɛv(ə)rɪdʒ
1. use (something) to maximum advantage
2. use (a quality or advantage) to obtain a desired effect or result

In a coaching or thought leadership practice, leverage can mean:

  • Reaching more people in less time
  • Making more money in less time
  • Creating multiple products and content items at the same time

Basically leveraging means to get more with less. To get a better return on your investment of time and energy. And who doesn’t want THAT?

This post will give you 3 ways to build more leverage into your business. Now… you’re busy and I’m busy, so let’s just get straight into it!

1. Packaging results not time

STOP CHARGING BY THE HOUR! Yes, I’m writing in capital letters because I’m shouting this from the rafters. Start packaging results instead of your time. Charging by the hour is employee thinking, not business owner thinking. To do this well you MUST have defined your Ideal Client Avatar. Know your audience well and know exactly what they want and need.

For one-off packages, ask “What outcome does my client want when working with me?” Create a package that is designed to meet this end goal.
To create ongoing monthly packages, ask “What does my client need consistently to achieve great results?”

Not sure what your clients want and need? Conduct some market research. Ask them. They won’t bite!

2. Leveraged Products

Creating leveraged products has to be one of my favourite ways to create massive leverage in your business. Online courses are the new business card! But they’re not for everyone. This section applies to people who already have a proven track record with their 1:1 clients.

Here are some leveraged product ideas:

  • Create an online course
  • Write a book
  • Run a group coaching/mentoring program (using Zoom)
  • Run live events, such as workshops
  • Webinars

Want to create leveraged products? I have a whole system for this! You can get my checklist here.

3. Eliminate repetition

What do you repeat to your clients? If you feel yourself becoming a broken record, that’s an opportunity to create leverage. Turn the phrases, lessons and processes that you are repeatedly sharing with your clients into a format that you can lead them to (paid or unpaid).

For example:

  • Articles
  • Blog posts
  • Social media posts
  • Videos
  • Courses
  • Podcasts
  • Speaking topics
  • Standard emails

When you find someone asking a related question, you can just send them a link. It’s the ultimate “here’s one I prepared earlier!”

Now that you know how to get more leveraged, get to it!
