Focus and clarity is one of the key ingredients to success, so if you’ve seen my Success Model, you will have seen that it’s the first one, and it’s a crucial one.

Having laser focus and clarity on what I do and the products I provide made the most difference to me in 2018 in exponentially growing the business.

Step 1 – Get Clarity and Focus About Your Zone of Genius

This comes down to being focused and clear about your Zone of Genius, and being really clear about your natural way of working and your strengths and making sure that you package up your products and services in a way that plays to all that stuff.

Your Zone of Genius is where you’re going to have the biggest impact with your clients, and is also going to be, as long as you package your products and service up in a way that plays to your strengths as well, it’s going to mean that it’s not draining for you to deliver those products and services, which means it’ll be sustainable, and it’ll be a lot more fun.

Step 2 – Focus In On Your Ideal Client

You also need to be super clear about your ideal client. Know your ideal client inside out and back to front. 

Pick one of your favourite clients to work with and describe them. Not “A man between 3o-45”, but “John who is a single father with two kids who is trying to transition into a career that he loves.” Be specific. 

And don’t freak out that you will only attract people exactly like John. You won’t. Here’s the thing about defining your ideal client – you will attract that exact person – and others who are similiar. Being more specific in your langauge and in your targeting makes you more attractive to clients – not less.

Step 3 – Get Clear on Exactly What Problems You Solve and the Solutions You Provide

Thirdly, you need to be very clear about, what are the problems that you solve and the solutions that you provide?

When you’re clear about your ideal client, and I think that the best way to do that is to think about one specific, favourite client that you’ve worked with that you would clone forever and a day and think about that ideal client, what are their top three problems when they start working with you? Their greatest fear? What is it that they actually want instead and what is their greatest hope or aspiration?

Bonus – You’ll Be Able to Improve Your Business Much Faster

Once you get focused and clear on all that stuff and you stay consistently focused on it.

You don’t start running off, chasing shiny objects.

You will start to see results. When you’re focused on one thing, you can make incremental improvements as you go, to whatever it is that you’re doing, so that the level of service you provide gets better and better and better.

Having that focus and clarity will allow you to do that. You’re not jumping off to the next thing and you’re not trying to spin so many plates. You can just master what you’re doing extremely well and become the go-to person in that thing.

Focus and clarity. Super important if you want to make more money, work less and have more fun in your business.
